Chain Maille Necklace - European Weave with Rare Larimar Pendant

Chain Maille Necklace - European Weave with Rare Larimar Pendant

Normally this type of sheet weave lies flat and if you try to curve it into the shape needed to be worn as a necklace it bunches up in strange ways. I learned how to make this weave curve so it will follow the flow of your neck ~ it takes many different sizes of jump rings to make the curve happen, it takes HOURS to make because the entire necklace is woven one ring at a time, but the results are phenomenal. It drapes and wears like a dream, and is truly elegance personified. Wear it for a wedding, wear it to the most formal event imaginable, or wear it taking a luxurious bubble bath (well maybe not - not sure how soapy bubbles would affect the stone pendant). I searched for just the right pendant to match the classiness of the necklace, & found this beautifully made Larimar piece. I wanted to suspend it in a way that would be eye catching and still flow with the European weave pattern. So I decided to make a couple of segments of Jens Pind chain, loop it through the pendant and back into the necklace. This pendant is artisan-made, and hallmarked with his/her stamp on the back side. Larimar is found in only one place on the planet - the Dominican Republic. It is a rare and very collectible stone, and this specimen is exemplary with its dreamy Caribbean hues - even more so given that Larimar is softer than turquoise, and can be hard to shape and work with. Larimar gets its name from the person who discovered it, being a combination of the name of his daughter, Larissa, and Mar, the Spanish word for sea. It's not for the faint of heart - there's about 5 troy ounces of sterling in this necklace, and that's not inclusive of the pendant. Even with this much weight, it is a dream to wear because the width of the chain distributes the weight so well. This necklace closes with a substantial four-strand clasp, and is about 16.25" long. Enjoy! Matching earrings available. PLEASE NOTE: The 20% discount does not apply to this piece. The price includes shipping to continental US destinations ONLY. For other destinations please inquire before purchase.
