Vintage Mexican Silver Necklace Brito

You are a goddess in this Aztec inspired vintage mexican silver necklace created by Mexican silver master E. Brito. Brito was one of the early Mexican masters of mosaic inlay, known as azteca mosaica, a technique developed by Chato Castillo at the Los Castillo workshop in the early 1940's. Soon after jewelry Taxco siver artist Margot married Antonio Castillo, we see the azteca mosaica technique in Margot's jewelry. And so, it evolves, with the use of other Mexican silver artisans in the 1940's and 1950's.

Such a composition:
Six inlaid circle-in-the-square sterling silver plaques hold the azurite mosaic work. Each piece linked to the other on the back side of the necklace with the center carved deep blue sodalite head . The carved centerpiece measures 2 1/2" x 2" (60mm x 50mm). The entire silver mexican necklace is twenty inches around. Held together with a wide, sturdy silver hook clasp.
